SALAD SMARTER

 

Why eat a bagged salad when you can eat a bagged salad that’s actually good for you? Eat Smart set out to raise awareness about their multitude of vegetable salad kits, but wanted to switch things up with a funny, internet-only video that would get people talking.

I never actually thought this would make it past the initial rounds of internal pitches. I actually had to fight really hard to get this idea into the client pitch. Most people thought that the brand should be like everyone else—a Panera-style commercial with happy, smiling hipster families having picnics in their backyard. To me, the brand had potential to talk to their real audience with a relatable spot that told a fun story.

For radio, we wanted to relate to the consumer in a fun way, so I included some fun cliche's that the target audience would immediately nod their head at. They probably heard this spot and said, “OMG that’s totally me! This brand just gets me.”
